I was born in 1983 in Huntsville, Texas and grew up in Dawson, Texas. I attended Dawson ISD for primary and secondary school and graduated from Dawson High School in 2002. I was a member of the National Honor Society and the Valedictorian of my high school class with a cumulative GPA of 3.98. In my senior year, the high school faculty awarded me the title of Mr. DHS (Mr. Dawson High School) for most exemplary male student, and the athletic coaching staff honored me with the Bulldog Fighting Heart Award for top male athlete. I participated in band, basketball, track, and cross country. In track, I was an area and regional qualifier in the 400 meters, 800 meters, and 1600 meters. I was district champion and a regional qualifier in cross country. I received the Navarro County DAR Good Citizens award and the Navarro County Optimist Club Youth Appreciation award in my senior year.

After completing high school, I moved to Waco to attend Baylor University. Baylor awarded me the President's Gold Merit Scholarship based on my high school class rank and my SAT exam scores. I graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a major in Financial Services and Planning. I graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors for earning a cumulative GPA of 3.92 at Baylor. I was on the Dean's Academic Honor List every semester while at Baylor for achieving a GPA of at least 3.70 each semester. I was inducted to the Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society my junior year for ranking in the top 7% of my class. I received the Outstanding Student In Financial Services And Planning award my senior year for recognition as the top student in my major. During my time at Baylor, I was granted lifetime memberships to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Golden Key International Honour Society, Alpha Chi Honor Society, and the Financial Management Association National Honor Society.

After graduation, I accepted a financial planner position at Financial Management Professionals in Austin, Texas. I passed the Series 65 Uniform Investment Advisor Law Exam in 2006 to become an investment advisor representative. I passed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ exam in 2008 and fulfilled the remaining certification requirements in 2009 to become a CFP® practitioner. I joined the Financial Planner Association in 2010 and regularly attend meetings of the FPA Austin chapter. At Financial Management Professionals, my primary duties involve the development of financial plans, including retirement planning, education planning, insurance planning, and tax planning. I communicate with clients to gather, analyze, and evaluate their financial data and use that information to produce financial projections, observations, and recommendations. I research and prepare information to answer various finanical questions from clients. I assist with the investment advisory services provided to qualified corporate retirement plans. I participate in the asset selection and monitoring process which includes the evaluation of mutual fund investments. I am a writer and administrator for the company blog. My work experience has greatly complemented my education in personal finance. I enjoy the financial planning process and helping others with important financial decisions.
